As Winter starts to appear so do the onslaught of sore throats. Here is an easy to make homemade cough remedy that you can try for yourself of share with loved ones.


Thyme- is rich in plant phenols such as thymol and carvacrol which are powerfully anti-spasmodic, making them potent cough suppressants. The antibacterial and expectorant qualities of this herb thin the mucus that the cough is trying to expel, whilst gently healing and soothing the bronchial tract.

Recipe:

5 slices of lemon

5 slices of fresh ginger

5 sprigs of fresh thyme (freshly chopped)

2 tsp cayenne pepper

2 tsp honey


Place all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to the boil, allow to simmer for 5-10 mins and enjoy.

Alternatively boil water in kettle and infuse all ingredients in a mug for 5-10 mins then enjoy.
